Skills and Talents Test
Free skills and talents test: 10 questions, about 4 minutes, no sign-up. Map your strengths across Communication, Analysis, Creation, Execution, and Learning.

What Is a Skills and Talents Test?
A skills and talents test maps where your capabilities cluster: communication, analysis, creation, execution, and learning. Skills are capabilities you have trained; talents are the ones that keep compounding with less effort. Knowing the difference matters, because the strongest careers are usually built on the abilities that grow fastest, not the longest list.
Self-report is deliberately a hypothesis, not a proof. The point of this test is to name your leading capabilities clearly enough that you can go and back them with evidence — work you have shipped, outcomes you can point to, feedback that repeats.
This page offers a free, short strengths self-assessment: 10 statements, no sign-up, and your five capability scores immediately after you finish.
The Five Capability Dimensions
The five capabilities below are the clusters this test measures. Read them as labels for where your evidence should live.
Communication
Explaining, listening, and adapting a message to its audience.
Analysis
Framing problems, reasoning through trade-offs, and deciding.
Creation
Making, designing, and improving tangible artefacts.
Execution
Planning, coordinating, and reliably delivering.
Learning
Building new capability deliberately through practice.
How This Strengths Test Works
The test contains 10 short statements, two for each capability. For every statement you rate how well it describes you on a five-point scale. It takes about four minutes, and your answers stay in your browser unless you choose to save them.
Each capability score is the average of its two statements, shown between 1 and 5. With two statements per dimension, read the result as a first map of where your strengths cluster, then confirm it against real evidence.
How to Read Your Strengths Profile
Start with your top dimension: it is the capability worth backing with evidence first. A self-report score becomes credible when you can attach concrete artefacts — projects delivered, problems untangled, explanations that landed. Build that evidence file for your strongest dimension before polishing a weak one.
Then look at combinations. Communication plus analysis suits roles that translate between worlds; creation plus execution suits people who ship. Weak scores are information too: they mark the capabilities you should borrow — hire, partner, or pair — rather than force.
Capability Dimensions and Typical Roles
Use this table to aim your strongest capability at roles that pay for it — then back the self-report with evidence from real work.
| Dimension | Typical directions |
|---|---|
| Communication | Teaching · Content and docs · Sales engineering · Product management |
| Analysis | Data analysis · Research · Consulting · Engineering |
| Creation | Software development · Design · Writing · Architecture |
| Execution | Project management · Operations · Production · Event delivery |
| Learning | New domains · Prototype teams · Enablement · Technical support |
Frequently Asked Questions
Skills are trained — you can list the course, the project, the practice. Talents compound — they improve with less effort than the people around you seem to need. This test measures self-reported strength across both, and the evidence step is what tells you which is which.
It is a structured hypothesis. Most people rate their everyday behavior reasonably well, but self-perception has blind spots, so treat the result as a starting map and confirm the top dimensions with evidence and feedback from people who work with you.
About four minutes: 10 statements, one five-point scale. There are no right answers, and you can retake it whenever your role changes.
